Job Description
Water Company Helpers assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems, including water treatment plants, pipelines, and customer service lines. They work under the supervision of skilled water treatment operators or distribution system operators.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of water pipelines and distribution systems.
- Help in the operation and monitoring of water treatment plants to ensure water quality.
- Assist in the reading and recording of water meters to monitor usage and detect leaks.
- Support the maintenance and repair of pumps, valves, and other water system equipment.
- Help in the installation and maintenance of water service lines to residential and commercial properties.
- Assist in the inspection and maintenance of water storage tanks and reservoirs.
- Support the maintenance of water treatment chemicals and equipment.
- Help in the identification and repair of water leaks in the distribution system.
- Assist in the cleaning and flushing of water mains and hydrants.
- Support the maintenance of water system maps and records.
- Help in the installation and maintenance of backflow prevention devices.
- Assist in the operation of water system control panels and monitoring equipment.
- Support the maintenance of safety and environmental compliance in water treatment and distribution.
- Help in the response to emergency situations, such as water main breaks or contamination events.
- Assist in the maintenance of customer service lines and related infrastructure.
