Job Description
Technicians are skilled workers who install, repair, and maintain various types of equipment and systems. They use a combination of hand tools and electronic instruments to diagnose and solve problems. Duties and Responsibilities
- Install equipment and systems according to specifications and customer requirements.
- Diagnose and repair faulty equipment, using test equipment, hand tools, and specialized knowledge of mechanical, electronic, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure they are in good working order.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to determine the appropriate installation, repair, or maintenance procedures.
- Test and calibrate equipment and systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
- Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies needed for installation, repair, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and other professionals to design and develop new equipment and systems.
- Document all maintenance, repair, and installation activities in logs and reports.
- Conduct safety inspections of equipment and systems to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems, using analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Operate and maintain computerized diagnostic equipment and software.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of new technologies and techniques in the field.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure their needs and expectations are met.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following safety guidelines and procedures.
