Labourers perform a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, highways, and other projects. Their duties may include cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, moving materials, pouring concrete, and operating equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Preparing and cleaning construction sites
- Digging trenches and filling in holes
- Moving and loading materials
- Pouring concrete and asphalt
- Operating hand and power tools
- Smoothing and leveling surfaces
- Unloading materials from trucks
- Setting up and dismantling scaffolding
- Mixing cement and other materials
- Installing and repairing fences, walls, and other structures
- Assisting skilled workers such as carpenters, bricklayers, and plumbers
- Following safety guidelines and regulations
- Performing routine maintenance tasks
- Performing manual labor such as shoveling, raking, and carrying heavy objects
- Performing any other job-related duties as assigned

Technical Skills
Manual handling and lifting techniques
Loading and unloading procedures
Knowledge of safety protocols and PPE use
Basic equipment operation (e.g., pallet jack, hand truck, forklift – if licensed)
Cargo securing and strapping methods
Stock organization and palletizing
Basic inventory control and labeling
Reading shipment labels and delivery notes
