Job Description

General helpers perform a variety of routine tasks in assisting other workers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, or supplies
• Help other workers move or carry materials or loads
• Perform basic tasks in preparation for more complex activities
• Operate simple machinery or equipment
• Answer phone calls or take messages
• Perform basic clerical tasks, such as filing or sorting mail
• Help workers set up or put away equipment or tools
• Follow written or oral instructions to perform tasks
• Perform basic maintenance or repairs on equipment or machinery
• Help workers assemble or disassemble equipment or products
• Transport materials, equipment, or supplies from one location to another
• Load or unload trucks, trailers, or railcars
• Perform basic quality control checks on products or materials
• Help maintain inventory of supplies or materials
• Assist with other tasks as needed

Physical stamina and ability to work in harsh environments (e.g., remote locations, extreme weather)

Awareness of safety and hazard identification

Willingness to follow instructions and work in a team

Basic mechanical aptitude

Ability to work long shifts and irregular hours (often 12-hour shifts)
