Job Description
A cable puller is a skilled trade professional responsible for installing and maintaining electrical cables and wiring in buildings, infrastructure, and other construction projects. They work closely with electricians and other construction tradespeople to ensure proper cable routing and installation.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Pulling and threading electrical cables through conduits, raceways, and trenches.
- Installing and securing cables in accordance with blueprints and specifications.
- Using hand tools and power tools to cut, strip, and terminate cables.
- Ensuring cables are properly labeled and organized for future maintenance.
- Collaborating with electricians to plan and execute cable installations.
- Inspecting cables for damage and replacing any faulty or worn-out cables.
- Following safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards and injuries.
- Using cable pullers, reels, and other specialized equipment to handle cables.
- Assisting in the installation of junction boxes, outlets, and other electrical components.
- Conducting tests to verify the integrity and continuity of cable installations.
- Working in confined spaces or elevated areas to install cables as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records of cable installations and locations.
- Adhering to local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
- Troubleshooting and repairing cable-related issues as they arise.
- Communicating effectively with team members to ensure project deadlines are met.
